Preview the ViewJuly 24 It was a busy day for our Council! It started off with members making signs to welcome freshmen and promote homecoming. Another group also worked hard on filming the video, which is set to premier on the first day of school.
After a quick lunch break, the real work began! Council members joined with Peer Leading and GSLT to guide tours around the school and helped upcoming freshmen with various high school aspects such as lockers, schedules, and walking the halls. |

First DayAugust 5 For our second annual first day activities, the Council donned neon pink shirts and made sure it was a memorable first day for all students! The day started out with passing out final schedules then helping rotate the grades to the different stations throughout the school day. The highlight was a pep rally with performances from the cheerleaders, the marching band, the dance team, the step team, and special guests: three UGA Majorettes! Other stations included a talk with the administrators, a Council-made video to help welcome back the new students, and an intriguing speech from internationally acclaimed speaker A'ric Jackson. From freshmen to senior, the spirit of Mountain View was reborn for yet another year of learning.

HomecomingSeptember 5 As a way to help the special education kids celebrate homecoming, the royalty guard was created! Every member of the guard has a crown and gets to eat dinner before the homecoming game with the homecoming court. Then they walk together to the field and sit in the stands together. Once halftime comes, they join the court on the field where they helped present homecoming queen Sarah Williamson with her tiara and sash.

SASCOctober 11-13 With Mountain View being crowned as president school at SASC last year, it was our honor to host the region-wide conference. The school was decorated for each state and every day was filled with leadership workshop, motivational speakers, and keynotes. For our recreational day, we took attendees to Atlanta where they experienced the core of the city’s history by visiting the Center for Civil and Human Rights and the Georgia Aquarium. With all of the hard work that went in to the convention, it was a hit and attendees seemed to be happy with how it turned out. One of the SASC speakers, Mike Smith, stayed and spoke to the MV student body after the event when school started back again. Shout out to co-presidents Austin and Santiago for organizing such an amazing event!
